The CEDAT company in Gdansk is a dynamically developing fully Polish-owned producer of high quality ready-made building chemistry mortars under the common brand name of CEKOL. The history of Cedat is an example how small activity may develop into a big company. The Cedat limited company was established by graduates of the Faculty of Chemistry, Gdansk University of Technology, in February 1991, when there were practically no modern building chemistry solutions on the Polish market. The first products of the CEKOL family were tile adhesives produced in a small rented factory in Gdansk. They were among the first stable quality modern building mixtures on the Polish market, as opposed to the then commonly used traditional sand and cement-based mortars prepared right on the construction site. Shortly afterwards, the Cedat company laboratories started work on the development of a recipe for an internal wall smoothing plaster. In 1993 the CEKOL C-45 white smooth gypsum based plaster was included in the offer and became a real "market hit", which it still is and remains the best known product of the CEKOL family.

The company gradually directed its production profile towards the gypsum-based products. The crucial year was 1995. The second branch of the company was established in Olsztyn. Its modern production halls and lines allowed even more dynamic development. In the next years branches were set up in Torun and in Silesia, as well as a number of factory stores all over Poland. In a dozen years after appearing on the Polish market, the Cedat company has four large modern factories - in Gdansk, Stawiguda near Olsztyn, Belchatow and Goldap. The company plants include production halls where the Cekol mortars are made, administration offices, stores and very well equipped laboratories. The highly qualified specialists employed in the company take care of the top quality of Cekol products.

The CEKOL product recipes are based on the high quality raw materials and additions. The constantly extended product range, the technological development and equipment investments allow to meet the increasing requirements of demanding customers. After all, the company has in its offer more than 30 kinds of mortars for different types of construction work. Specialised commercial representatives of the company are present in all the regions of Poland, the Cedat company outlets are on the whole territory of Poland and abroad, e.g. in Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Belarus - all that contributes to building up greater and greater number of satisfied customers. Caring also for educating the do-it-yourself tinkers, Cedat organizes demonstrations in the building material supermarket networks. During the presentations, customers receive full, reliable information on the Cekol products. The company experts learn directly the customer needs and they may help select the suitable mortar and advise how to use it. All these actions give the customers more satisfacion of the effects and make them use our products willingly and repeatedly. The quality of Cekol products has been confirmed by the recently received ISO 9001-2000 Quality Management System Certificate and many awards won by the Cedat company. They include: Leader of Entrepreneurship 2002 - for the achievements in entrepreneurship, innovation and preparing the company for functioning on the modern European market, Golden Europroduct 2002 - for strengthening a positive image of the Polish economy on the foreign markets and for building a market prestige of products and services and their brands, Market Leader 2002 and 2003 - for the best white gypsum based plaster in Poland, Euroleader 2003 - for the best in Poland Cekol-45 white smooth gypsum based plaster.

Cedat means not only the building chemistry. The company has been participating for many years in the charity actions and in sport sponsoring. Cedat is particularly active in supporting sports by participation in various regional, national and international competitions and tournaments. Since 1999 it has been regularly supporting the international Strong Man competition as well as the sport star tournaments and recreational events, with income intended for charity purposes. Since the beginning of its presence on the market, the company has been also participating in actions of supporting the people in need of help. The company has been giving building materials e.g. for the Renewed Hope action initiated by the Jolanta Kwasniewska's "Understanding without Barriers" Foundation and the TVN "You Are Not Alone" Foundation as well as several times to flood victims and to the Family of Hope Foundation. In May 2004, Cedat together with "National Geographic" made it possible for the marine archeologists to investigate on the Baltic bottom a ship sunk in the middle of 18th century. That was one of the biggest archeological expeditions in the Baltic Sea. Cedat is a Polish company and it is particularly important to it to support the national charity actions and sports.
